Desk Facing a Wall? How to Make Your WFH Setup Work

Working from home with your desk facing a wall? This is the most common home office problem — and it doesn't require a renovation to fix.

Why It Matters

In feng shui, you want to see the door from your desk (commanding position). Facing a wall creates "blocked" energy — you feel stuck, unfocused, and isolated.

Fix #1: Mirror on the Wall ($10-20)

Place a small mirror on the wall in front of your desk, positioned so you can see the doorway reflected behind you. This creates the commanding position without moving your desk.

Fix #2: Open Up the Space

Remove anything between you and the wall. No stacks of paper, no monitor arms blocking your view. The wall should be clean and clear with a piece of calming art or a vision board.

Fix #3: Take Breaks Facing Away

Every hour, swivel your chair or stand up and face the room for 30 seconds. This resets your energy.

Quick Checklist

Desk positioned so you CAN see the door if you look up. Wall is clean and inspiring. Small mirror reflects the doorway. A plant on your desk for living energy. These four things transform a wall-facing desk.
