Feng Shui for a 10x10 Bedroom: Making the Impossible Layout Work

A 10x10 bedroom is the most common apartment size — and the hardest to arrange with good feng shui. Here's how to make it work.

The Reality

You probably only have one wall long enough for your bed. It might be under a window, and the door might open directly onto it. Standard feng shui advice doesn't help here.

Priority: Headboard Against Solid Wall

If you can only fix one thing, make sure your headboard (or the head of your bed frame) is against a solid wall — not under a window. This is 80% of bedroom feng shui.

Workarounds for Common Problems

Bed under window: Use heavy curtains and a high headboard. The headboard creates the feeling of a wall behind you.

Door opens onto bed: Add a footboard or small room divider at the foot of the bed.

Closet mirror faces bed: Close the closet door at night, or cover the mirror with a cloth.

What to Leave Out

In a 10x10 room, every piece of furniture matters. Remove: exercise equipment, extra chairs, floor lamps that nobody needs, decorative items that have no purpose. Empty space is more valuable than furniture.
